Starting the Search
Job seaching can easily be one of the most daunting tasks you will do in life. Whether it is your first time on the search, or if you have done this many times before, these tips will help you navigate the process with ease. Let is start with basics.
The Resume

This is a staple in everyone's job search. It is a summary of what you can do.; A snapshot of you as a professional. The Cover Letter
​
Depending on what the job level that you are going for, you may need a cover letter. This is a formal letter explaining what makes you a good fit for the job. You may not need one for a part-time high school job, but you will want to know how to write one for your future full-time position. Learn more about it here.

Time
​
It seems simple, but sometimes the job search can last longer than expected. Online applications tend to tak 30 minutes to an hour and you may not hear back about an interview or job offer right away. Whether you are devoting an hour per day to apply for a job, or starting your summer job applications a month ahead, be sure to map out enough time for the process.

Hiring managers typically don't know who they are interviewing and may need more information past your resume and interview. The best way for them to get to know you more is to ask others who personally know you. You should always have a contact list of 3-5 individuals who would be willing to speak positively of your work ethic. Make sure to ask those individuals before sending their contact information to employers.
